Checklist:
- Be sure to get in touch with your vet and schedule an appointment for the second set of shots 2-3 weeks from the time of their first shot, which will be on the date of their first vet check.
- When your puppy is about 5 weeks old this is a good time to start planning which day you’d like to bring your little bundle of joy home. I usually have posted my calendar on the website under "AVAILABLE PUPPIES" page so you are able to schedule your perfect pick up date and time. If my schedule for that week doesn't work for you its no problem just let me know your plans and we’ll try our best to arrange a pick up schedule for everyone.
Things you’ll need:
- Food- This is the diet the puppies are currently eating. We always start our puppies on Life's Abundance food. I HIGHLY recommend this kibble option. We have been feeding LA for several years and it is our absolute favorite. Our Puppies do amazing on it as well as our adults dogs. We also supplement with a couple other brands here and there...but this is the one we recommend. LA is ordered online and shipped directly to your door, so there is no need to run to the grocery, or the nearest pet store.

The puppies are currently eating the All Life Stages food, I mix the grain food and the grain free so they get some of both. You can choose to feed the All life stages with grain or without if you’d like, either one is acceptable.
Some things to remember about this food:
The protein levels are very high which means your puppy won’t need as much food as they may with another brand. If your puppy overeats sometimes they can get the runs (no fun). Make sure to stick to the recommended feeding amounts. I personally feed 1.5 cups to my young puppies and as they grow I bump it to 2 cups per day. I could talk all day about the benefits I’ve seen from feeding this better quality food, but I’ll let you find out for yourselves 😉.
- LA also offers treats, canned food, shampoo etc... These are all great products that I highly recommend. Their bio-degradable cleaner is AMAZING as well and can be very useful when bringing home a new puppy 👍.
- NuVet Vitamin supplement.
As a dog breeder, animal health is my top priority. That’s why NuVet Plus immune system builder is something I recommend for every puppy I send home. Your Aussie puppy just got weaned off of one of nature’s super foods – their colostrum from their mom. This creates a significant drop in their immunity. You are welcome to order either vitamin supplement (LA or NuVet) I have used both and done trials with my dogs to see which I prefer. To be completely honest I was very happy with the results of both vitamins and didn’t feel either “test” dog was in better health than the other.
So I leave it up to my customers to decide which vitamins they prefer.
- Crate- I personally love crate training for my puppies. It teaches them that they have a safe space that is all theirs, and it also gives a great jump on potty training. Most puppies prefer not to potty in their bed, and will usually whine when they need to go out. So crate training teaches them those basics very early. My personal preference is the 36” size crate(Frisco Brand) with the divider. This size will fit through a regular size doorway, the 42” crate is nice for the dog to have extra room...but it doesn’t fit through doorways so you have to break it down every time you want to move it 😑. I prefer to have the divider in the crate when the puppy first goes home because it can really benefit with potty training. The less space the puppy has at night the less likely they are to potty in that space. Many puppies if given a large crate will potty in one end and sleep in the other. Trust me, this is not a habit you would like to form.
- Fleece Crate mats are great for your pets comfort and they are made with an absorbent pad so they catch any accidents your puppy may have, also they are machine washable which is so nice!

- Collar, leash, harness- I will send a puppy size harness, leash and collar in the puppy kit so if you want to purchase one of course that’s up to you 😊, but my advice would be to buy the next size up so your puppy will have something to grow into. Trust me they grow so fast.
